This review is for the weekend BBQ. About a month ago some buddies and I were having coffee and telling lies a couple doors down when we began to catch a whiff of wood smoke. When we walked back to our trucks we see this giant open style BBQ with chicken on rotisserie, it looked delicious. Since it was early morning we went on our way. Over the course of the month I would see this happening on the weekend. Well today I finally gave it a shot. Apparently El Grullo took over the place next door and is trying something new. I ordered a half of chicken and a half rack of ribs to take home. Both chicken and ribs were moit and had a great flavor. I was pleased. This is exactly what this little town needs hopefully they start offering this during the week. I will definitely be back.
It's a shame this place seems to attract weird reviews (but that's the tone of some people - review just to be mean) - but the place is really great. My wife and I routinely come to Taco El Grillo when we're able to (in CA to see family) and we resist eating elsewhere until we get there. Massive dishes and absolutely authentic taste - my wife is a little woman and she can devour a huge plate of nachos by herself. I tend to go for the carne asada (delicious!) or the carne el gusto plate. Prices are really fair, but be warned - the meals are big so you might limp a bit until you've digested it all. Ignore the 1-review trolls: give them a try. We think they're great and can't wait until we can travel back for more!
The food here was so good. I love coming here. There are days when the tacos are cheaper which is on Wednesday. The service was great. After looking at the specials I really wanted to get a churro too but I decided not too. The ambiance was well decorated for Xmas. They did update the pricing a bit but still very cheap.
